Now Trending: Latest trends to be highlighted at 2017 Merison's Hom

When I was a teenager, I could barely wait for the Seventeen Magazine "Back to School" issue. The pages were filled with glossy pictures of Calvin Klein Jeans, Frye Boots, button down shirts and monogram crew neck sweaters. The "Back to School" issue was the key to what was trending for the new school year.

The Merison’s Home Show is your way of seeing the latest trends in home decorating. From furniture to rugs, accessories, and more, we are dedicated to showing you the most beautiful products for your home. Here’s a small preview of the 2017 Home Show. What’s the theme this year? You guessed it: “Now Trending”!

From Tennessee to Texas, the Farmhouse trend is the hottest look in home decorating. Rustic timber, white washed finishes, unique accents with distinct character, neutral yet warm upholstery, and painted furniture embody this trend. Accessories such as galvanized tin buckets, distressed wood candlesticks, burlap, chalkboards, and barn wood accents are a must to carry through the theme in your home. Whether you choose to do a room or your whole house, the casual and easy farmhouse style is going to be with us for a long time.

The Eclectic Look is definitely trending right now! Characterized by neutral colors in furnishings, this allows you the backdrop to experiment with a mix of colors and patterns to create a unique room design.

It is perfectly mismatched yet produces a cohesive, fun, and surprising twist! Upholstered headboards and neutral bedroom pieces are popular trends in this design.

Once again, this casual easy style makes it very popular for families. Neutral colored sofas with a fun mix of pillows look phenomenal! This trend is also a great option for collectors who want to display collections with a wide variety of colors and patterns.

Mid-Century Modern Style has been made popular again by the "Mad Men" TV series. Fun fact: it may also be called Danish Modern because the style was first popularized in Denmark. It is a style that embodies the clean and streamlined furnishings of the 1950s and 1960s. Exposed legs on sofas and chairs, boxy looking chairs, and plain, simple tables are characteristics of Mid-Century Modern. Think simple and clutter-free with clean lines. Bold colors such as orange, turquoise, and red are key components in this style.

Speaking of color, we are seeing certain trends in the home furnishings industry. Navy, Indigo, Turquoise, and Teal are trending colors. We see these colors across all styles, accessories and furnishings. Navy is now being used as a neutral. Bold pops of color such as orange, yellow, and turquoise provide an amazing contrast to a neutral navy sofa. The many hues of blue are definitely now trending!

Last but not least, reclining furniture is in! Comfort and easy care are at the forefront in reclining home furnishings. Recliners, reclining sofas and sectionals are perfect for spending quality time at home with your family. These family-friendly furnishings provide easy care thanks performance fabrics and butter soft leathers.

Families crave the relaxation that reclining pieces offer. New streamlined and sleek styles with great detailing make this furniture much more stylish than the furniture of the past. New pieces come in full power so you can recline at the touch of a button! There are even new features such as USB ports and power headrests. You can set your headrest to the perfect angle for an ultimate TV watching experience!

As you can see, there are many exciting and beautiful options trending in the home furnishings industry. Don’t be left behind on what is now trending! Come see the new styles and enjoy a day of family fun at our annual Merison’s Home Show on Friday and Saturday, March 17th and 18th at the Paris Convention Center, 1510 East Wood St., Paris, Tennessee.

Until next time,
